It had been almost two years since Abigail had been on a real date. Sure she had been out a couple of times with people from work, she had even let one of her friend's set her up on a blind date, but none of them felt real and none of them led to second dates. She was starting to worry about whether or not she would ever find that person that she was meant to be with forever.

Abigail called her best friend, Maggie, and told her about her worries. Maggie sympathized with Abigail and told her that she had been feeling the same way. Maggie said that she hadn't met anyone worth going on a second date with since she broke up with her college boyfriend! The two girls laughed together and made a deal- they would both sign up for two dating websites and share their experiences with each other. Even if they didn't find true love, they would at least have some funny stories to share!

Abigail was certainly surprised when she logged on to one of her dating websites a week later and found a request for contact. She e-mailed the man, named Joe, and told him that she was willing to meet him at a local coffee house the next day. "Maybe these dating websites have some value," she thought. She called Maggie to tell her about her date. Maggie said that she had already been on one from one of her contacts and that it wasn't great but she wasn't giving up hope. Abigail was discouraged by Maggie's story, but decided to go for it anyway.

The next day, Abigail and Joe met at the coffee house. They hit it off right away and it turned out that they had a lot in common. She was pleasantly surprised that he seemed funny and attractive and they decided to meet again the next weekend for dinner at a nice Frenchrestaurant.

At the restaurant the next Saturday, Abigail began to feel like Joe might really be someone she could connect with. Looking at him in the candle light made her feel a little giddy. She shook her head and laughed, and when Joe asked her what she was laughing at she said that she never thought she would find a real match on dating websites. Joe laughed then, too, and said that it doesn't matter what path you take to find someone, as long as you make the effort.
