Thoughts by Adults

Ben had used a dating site a few years back, all that time ago when he spent most of his free time on a computer, and completely and utterly single. Now, however, he was a boyfriend, and had been looking after his girlfriend for somewhere close to three years now.

Ben thought that his girlfriend, whose name was Georgia, was adorable. She thought that he was cute and funny. Today they were planning to start their very first proper holiday together. They were going to spend two and a half weeks in the middle of sunny Spain, down by the beach, with no one to spend time with apart from each other. It was going to be lovely. And to think, all this started with a dating site and a couple of hours free without any homework to be due in! If Ben had had homework that night that he had first met Georgia, perhaps the outcome would have been different. Perhaps he would not be about to go on holiday to Spain. Perhaps he would still be sitting on that computer, doing yet more on one dating site or the other!

The two of them caught a taxi and got to the air port without any problems. They were both very excited and hopeful that it was going to be a wonderful holiday. They certainly started it all well: they went to a posh coffee shop and got coffee and muffins. There were no delays at all, and the plane landed before it was even supposed to. When they got out of the plane the warmth of Spain hit them like a huge wave crashing against their bodies.

The first week was equally splendid. They ate ice cream every day and went out to restaurants almost every evening. It was a beautiful time for the two of them.

When they got back to the air port for the trip home there was a boy on a computer. He was obviously on a dating site. Ben had a couple of spare euros in his pocket and he gave them to the boy in the hope that the boy would turn out like him, and in a few years maybe go on holiday with a girl to a beautiful place like this. The boy said thank you, and then the couple went back home to England to spend the rest of their lives together.
